This article brought out some ideas I never thought of. I don't know how many times I have stopped by a house after a full day of hunting, looking like "Mountain Man".

i like the great stories! i have had my fair share of bad times to..
i was hunting a small pothole early season in iowa and i had thrown out 2 dozen decoys and as shooting time came along i had birds left and right and i just couldn't figure why i couldn't get them to decoy??? as time went on i had shot one green wing teal and i saw something floating in the water when i picked my duck up i looked at my decoys on the right side of the blind and all the heads to my floaters had fallen of and were laying in the weeds next to my blind so I put them back on and had a much better successful afternoon coming out on top wit 6 green wing 1 hen mallard and 1 hen gadwall. it wasn't my worst day but it is one i will remember for a life time!

for pellet ballistics you can use chairgun.. its a freeware program for rifle and airgun folks. however you would assume a single round steel (or lead) bb instead at ranges of at most 70 yards.

all you would need is the ballistic coefficient of your respective bb which can be found anywhere or experimentally obtained (this factors size shape and density off of experimental values) and muzzle velocity. the outputs useful for this application would be velocity and possibly point of impact wrt distance.

I would use anything under the sun to prop up the tongue on my boat. I was always worried the kids were going to get hurt playing around the boat in the back of my yard (though I yelled at my 5 year old everytime he got near it), so I invested $50 bucks on a wheeled jackstand. Then I found myself yelling at the kids to quit cranking it up and down, after my boat was full of water. I bought a Tungbar and the problem was solved. Easier to remove the opportunity than yell at the kids...

Great article and great discussion.

Just wanted to add something that I haven't read her yet.

I am in my 50's and I have three children. We moved around quiet a bit and never really stayed anywhere long enough to make friends (I hope those days are over)

In any case. I am a first generation hunter, which means nobody in my family ever hunted. I really don't know anybody close enough yet who could show me the ropes.

Currently I find these forums to be the only source of info I have.
I don't expect for anybody to reveal their secrets and I can respect that, but general information is greatly appreciated.

Keep up the good work.

Great article...

Similar to K Snead and LD Azevedo, for those of us who use steel shot for everything from small game to geese, is it possible to supply similar tables for 1300-1450 FPS steel loads?

Whatever revised table information you can provide is greatly appreciated.
