Hey guys-------I'm huntin over decoys this week & it will be in the morning fog. I haven't done much of it, so I wanted to know how it affects the ducks in the morning-----------Do they head out latter to go to feed? Decoy easier or harder?-----etc.

I love fog. First flight will be set back slightly. You need some dark color decoy's. got to use your ear's to locate duck's and sweet talk them low enough to see. I have found to be very aggressive in calling constantly making noise all the way to the water on such day's. Birds should be very low anyway, which makes it much more easy to get them to take a second look.

Seem to me that our birds stretch their wings and move around a fair bit fog but tend to want to stay over water, so our bigger water blinds do better in it than isolated potholes. Something I believe helps us a good bit is that I'll stick l light weight whistle in the corner of my mouth and chirp away advertising our location while quietly passing the time of day with guests.

Great advise! Never killed a duck in the fog, but have killed geese. I notice the heavy morning flight off roast comes just before the fog leaves. Splashing water with a jerk string could be effective. Most of the time I feel I am wasting my time though.

The few times I've hunted in fog I wish I'd just stayed home. You can't see them coming, they can't see you. I suppose you could just call like a mad man and maybe that would help. I'd say I don't think they fly as much but since I can't see them I have no real clue.

I hunt big water and love the fog. The birds can't see you and won't be looking for you when they crash land in the decoys. We shoot a ton of divers on foggy days. I love how they come screaming in out of nowhere. It is all snap shooting and is a total blast. On foggy mornings we don't bother building blinds. We just stand in the grass on the bank and hammer the flights as they come through.
