If your gun is consistently shooting low the drop at comb and heel may be to low for you. You may need to install the shims that will bring up these two dimensions. The gun comes from the factory with the 60 mm. shims installed. This translates to approx. 2 1/2" of drop at heel. I needed to install the 50 mm. shims to bring up the drop at heel to 2", which is my appropriate dimension. Your owners manual will give you very clear and simple directions to do this. It takes about 10 min. to do. If you do not have a manual you can download one from the Beretta USA site. I hate to be a nag on this point but if you have never had a professional stock fitting you should really have one done. It will be the best approx. $250 that you will ever spend on a hunting related item. Once you have a professional stock fitting done you will never have to guess or play with a stock again. You simply adjust it to your exact dimensions, which you will already know. Most people spend their entire hunting and shooting lives shooting guns that do not fit and adjusting their mount to fit an ill fitting gun. This causes all sorts of bad habits and mystery misses. Do yourself a favor and have a fitting done.

BUT only do this after you are absolutely sure it is the gun and not the shooters.

Fowlpounder, did you read the instructions firrst? Reason I ask is you said spacer. There are two shims on my Beretta. When I got my Beretta I couldn't hit a thing to save my life. I ordered the instructions and shim kit then went to work on it. I don't have the money to be fitted so I tried a bubba way. I wrapped my mini mag flash lite with eleteical tape until it fit snugly into the barrel. I set the beam as sharp as I could. I stood at one end of the room quickly shouldered the gun to the corner of the ceiling. It pointed low. I change the shims and got it to hit correctly. I repeated this shouldering the gun with my eyes closed. I'm hitting well now. It may sound Bubba but it worked for me.

"Stuff" happens,now and then.
I bought a brand new Browning XT for trap shooting and the top barrel would break 25 straight at the HDCP 27 yard line but the bottom barrel waould shoot 6" high at the pattern board......................the trap shop let me choose another shotgun.

However, I would agree that 90% of the problem is a bad stock fit.

At the age of 15 I had a win .410 pump that was great for upland birds............now that same stock makes the gun shoot 18" high at the 16 yard line!!

Its all about gun fit.
