Wind damage?????

While talking with an old guy about dogs, he mentions his German shepherd being deaf from wind blowing into his ears from riding in the back of the truck. Has anyone ever heard of this? My dog doesn't ever ride in the bed of the truck, but she sure loves to ride with her head out the window.

I think German Sheps go deaf on their own. I could be wrong but I've heard talk about them having some genetic tendency. I guess like how labs have the hip thing.

Talk to some bikers, they ride with the wind in their face all the time... if hearing loss is common to them, you'll have your answer. Then again a bike is friggin' loud too. Good question bud. My dogs too much of a princess, thing wont go near an open window in the truck, she wont go near a dead duck in the water either.

Cheers,

Mugz.

Our dogs ride in kennels when we are driving anywhere ... It may not as much fun for them as riding "shotgun" but definitely a lot safer! If you insist on them riding in the cab with you, I would be more concerned about bugs, dust, stones and general crap getting their eyes, ears, etc rather than them becoming deaf from this.

Thanks for the response guys. Dakota Creek.....I would use a kennel, but finding one large enough for my dog and small enough to fit in the cab has been impossible. I live in Florida, so a kennel in the truck bed is a no go. Too hot.

This was a serious question. I hope no one thinks I'm trolling. The health and well being of my dog is very important to me, as I imagine most if not all on this forum feel the same.
