Sock heaters????

Anyone ever tried those battery heated socks from Cabelas. Are they any good because it does require a giant battery to operate? I'm thinking about getting them because my feet haven't got used to the cold yet and when they do, it doesn't do me any good. Wearing more than your average thermals and wool socks doesn't help either maybe b/c it's my weak wader that only has 600 g of thinsulate. Hey it's all I can afford for now.

I have the same problem. I get buy with toe warmers most of the time, but have been considering the socks. I do not have a set now, but I had a set of standard boot ones some years ago. I had technical difficulty with them about the time of the last puppy so that would be about 12 years ago now. They worked very well. I usually had to turn them off from time to time because they got too hot in my better boots. I would get another set and I am considering them now, but I hope to get some 1200 waders oversized for good socks and maybe I will not need the heaters. I looked at them at Cabela's last week. I also looked at the Artic Shield boot covers. I was thinking about those instead of the socks, because I am often on dry grown or in a boat and could use the boot covers deer hunting and when not wading. I just picked up a pair of Artic Shield shooting mittens with the glove inserts for 50% off so I plan to try those with the next cold snap and if they work well I will probably go with the boot covers for this year.

I got some a couple years back for Christmas....they are excellent when I use them in knee boots....have to be able to access the battery to disconnect/connect....so I don't think they'd be 'useable' in waders...also, they do have wires running along the sole, so long term walking would probably wear them out quickly?
