I was considering buying a 20 gauge SX3 for my 11 year old son. He's tall for his age, but I think the gun may be a little big for him. Any suggestions?
It might be a little big. With no spacers, it should fit the average 5'9" adult. I had to put one spacer in my 20ga SX3. You might be able to get a thinner recoil pad for it if you have to.
If I had that dilemma, would probably buy the gun, remove the pad completely, IF it was too long for the lad, fill the open stock with styrofoam and tape it over....will not look great, but should work out for him until he grows a bit.
There's very little recoil with the SX3,, you might even consider a 12ga, it'll last him for years.
Get the SX3 Compact! I bought the wife one in 12 ga and it fits her well. Actually it fits me very well with my short arms. It comes with a few spacers so you can fine tune the length of pull.
Yes, if agree, get the 12. My wife of 125 lb put 50 rounds through hers yesterday and her arms are only sore from holding the gun up.
They use a similar gas system like the Maxus which is known for a fast shooter.
The SX 3 is still fastest action out there. I would get the 12 gauge 3" as well.
