Here's 3 mallards i finished tonight. they are next to a lifesize decorative mallard for size reference. my 2013/14 decoys are made out of fiberglass and foam. I have a mold and i just pop the bodys out of the mold. the heads are glass over foam. There is a 2.5" foam board glassed in under them so they float. Keel has lead poured in so they self right. they are approx 28" from chest to tail. These are the only mallards im making for my spread. I have 10 blackducks made from the same mold/ same size that are 3/4 finished right now.
with my 13/14 spread i'll be using 3 mallards, 10 blackducks, 20 bluebills (made from modified full body goose decoys / approx 22" chest to tail), 6 goose V-boards (each goose silo is approx 4' long x 3' tall. THese are BIG), 1 magnum pintail V board, 2 magnum canvasback v-boards.

BTW Scaup...
I haven't forgotten your bird....My shop is a mess from the summer, I can't seem to get into carving until it's cool outside.
I have your body and head roughed out.
You can finish and paint

I tow a 16' scow full of decoys behind my 22' boat. we bodyboot, or if its nasty / too much water we hunt out of the big boat. check my lil website for a better idea of how it works: oceancitywaterfowl.yolasite.com big decoys work... there's no doubt about it. im guessin' not alot of people use them because of its totaly impratical for how and where they hunt. I would not want to load up a bunch of these decoys + all my gear + a extra hunter or two into a 18' boat. or even worse, have to carry them into a spot.
