I know a bunch of you guys have made them, but I'm wondering if anyone has a step by step tutorial or something that they could post on how to make one..?? I would like to make one out of air lucky duck... Thanks in advance.
There's that "Duckboard" thing which is essentially a body surfing board with a short mount for a mojo or other similar wing flapper bolted to the middle. Is this what you mean? Or any type of floating motion decoy?
that duckboard thing is way too expensive and I don't think it would work well on big water. Geeladouche, I am assuming that you want something for big water, where you may encounter waves and chop. I know what you want to make and I know that I have seen the plans for it on the Refuge forums. In a nutshell, it is a threaded pipe with a counter weight on the bottum, floats in the middle and the wind duck on the top. Easy and inexpensive to make. Works great with a lot of movement in high seas.
You can always make something like this, it would be easy to make and looks stable. It looks like two pieces of aluminum riveted in the middle, just attach decoys to the ends and mount the pole. You could always add more decoys to the sides to make it more stable.
Instead of going through the hassle of experimenting and trying to make your own floater...check out www.floatstand.com! Watch our youtube video to see how well it works in rough conditions!
