Saved Decoys

My dad scored 6 or so of these from an old cabin that was being torn down.

Not the greatest of shape but neat and these two will find a spot in my house.

Wooden heads. One done green other looked blackish. Obviously one is a mallard. Looks like cork bodies.

Bottom is what I'd say is a cut down 2x4 with a keel weight.

I assume it is a homemade job but neat either way.

Isn't it amazing what those guys got away with years ago...and I'm sure they slayed ducks over them....now we got battery powered, fully flocked, spinning wings.....

I'm sure we over think the decoys more than we should. This brand is the most realistic, etc, in reality when the ducks are close enough to see any sort of detail, the dog should be on it's way out for a retrieve.
^^^ I agree, these decoys are strictly gunning decoys, no frills, no contests to win, just duck slayers. What a neat find!
