Them little things are neat. We see them a lot on their way back north during spring. That time of year we find them out on smaller lakes strutting Like Tom Turkeys! Their tail sticks straight up and fanned, wing tips dropped touching the water, and chests puffed out. Funnier than Sh!t. During waterfowl season we shoot them in slow coves of the big rivers.

Tough to find em in full plumage. You may get one late in the year, but we dont even see any in full plumage in late january here. I dont see much sport in shooting em. We may kill one when its slow. The open water guys love em cause it can be the only shots they get on slow days.

We got them by the thousands down here. They dont develop full plumage til april-may, tho I've heard people bagging them in full plumage in january ... Very rare.
We have them swimming in our spreads all the time, but dont shoot them very often. They are almost impossible to pluck, but taste better than most divers down here.

Just saw a bunch over the weekend here in MN. The drakes are starting to get a little white on the face, but still not full color. It is always nice when they swim into the decoys to give the spread a little extra action...
