for my oldmans birthday this years my mom has said he wants in a blind. he doesnt live in chico but he's always up here hunting with me. So my mom and i want to buy him a a seat. can you guys point me in a good direction? or at least let me know where to start looking. Lots of the places i've found are already sold out for the next season.

Hopefully, some rice club hunters will post up for you...as I don't have any info on those. But, I did want to say that if you are looking for a spot just for him, you might consider a 10 hunt card at Sundance or Fish dogs.

For about $1,500 I think, he could pick 10 different days to hunt...or you could go along and you both hunt 5 times together to make up the 10 hunts. No decoys or work involved. Just pick a date and go. They are located near Willows so not sure if that's what you had in mind.

Or try calling Kittles in Colusa - they may have a line on some blinds for you.

Anyway - just a thought for a place to try for a year maybe while you look for a more long term club to buy into.

I have no affiliation with them, but these are their web sites if that helps.

Yeah i know that Gaines Ranch is booked. I actually have a buddy goin to court with Gaines. He had about $500 worth of **** stolen from his blind and there was some sort of despute and theres a bunch of other mumbo jumbo goin on but the way he explaines it is that Gaines wasnt too friendly about his loss on thier land.

really ,what blind did he hunt from? was it last season?

i hunted the nelson field blind last season. our field was drained during january and never filled back up. he said maybe someone drained it to steal our decoys. i told him to fill the water up twice and he said said he was on it. by the last day i collected decoys in mud. he never filled the water up. i try to hint about a prorated season and he never responded to it. i had first dibs on that blind again.....i turned it down.

took it in the shorts is right man. when he told gaines about his loss he said they would try to work somethin out. SO my buddy gave him $500 less on his payment, hoping it would be okay, and they just blew up on him. He was still willing to pay the $500 if Gaines wasnt ok with it but they flew off the handle on him and refused any settlement. No he's takin them to court over it and they're counter sueing hin for $6,000 for a $4,500 blind because they claimed they couldnt find somebody to fill it. Which everybody knows it crap cuz there are people lined up for ages to pay for a blind. hopefully he wins. You guys think he will?

from that list - RSCT is always looking for new members I believe. Always in the CWA mag advertising. Hunted there once - next to Bering.
I was just up at that property on Sunday doing Wood Duck Boxes. Tommy has leased everything out, but it seems like a great piece of property. Lots of ducks out there on Sunday.
just got an email from RSCT saying "may be developing some blinds in the Afton area." let him know if your interested. too much money for me this season.

hntndux-
Naw most of his decoys were stolen, they cut the lock: motos, stools, shells, etc. i dont see how stolen property isnt a liable issue? especially when there are caretakers there to make sure that **** doesnt happen? Dont get me wrong but you'd probly be erked if it happened to you. Wouldnt ya?

So what was the outcome if ya dont mind me askin. I'm not sayin who's to blame because theres no way to determine that, i just think that Gaines could have handeled it more profesionally than they did thats all. I know EXTREMA is with me on that one! Oh and EXTREMA i'm not sure what blind he was in or if he hunted at all. I'll ask him though but He might have got had like you did?

i'm with you. they said it would be patroled. fred hunted across the street from my blind and i only saw him pass by once. i was asked one time by the owner of the land "who i was". he was a really cool guy (the farmer/owner). i know they can't be patroled all the time but some clubs like rhc and hastings island have private patrolmen. it is a big investment for most people and it should be protected somehow. maybe have a $250.00 deductable per field.

the only thing is his testamony wouldn't hold up in court due to a clause in the contract.

line 23 of the contract states "he waives his rights or causes of action due to damages or LOSS which occur on the premises."

another words he's screwed. i think he should have handled it a little more friendly and used cutomer service skills. i think a little dicount wouldn't hurt for the prices these guys charge nowadays! hope he comes out with something because he probably had a crappy year too!
