Hit Assawoman yesterday for the opener. My first time down there.
Scouted on Sunday in the wind and there were LOTS of ducks on the refuge ponds.
So cold sunday night with no wind (19 degrees) that the pond had skim ice on it all morning.
I bet the afternoon hunting turned out to be really good once that pond thawed.
I hunted the morning and two of us each got 1 black duck.
Lots of blacks pitched into the dekes, but after we already had our limit.
pass shot at some buffies, but missed (man they fly fast).
Packed up the dekes @ 9:45 am and they all had ice on them still.
Saw a ton of birds Monday but didn't have much shooting. Tuesday hunted some big water and didn't shoot vary well, missed some blue bills. Had a little action yesterday on some shovelers and a pintails. See what Friday and Saturday bring.
I didnt make it we ended up in Tennessee for Thanksgiving, looks like some birds are moving in.
