Hello, I'm sure you guys get these posts all the time so ill start off with saying that I'm not looking for anyone's hunting spot or even areas to hunt, I'm just basically looking for general information on duck/goose hunting in the Panama City area. I'm active duty in NJ right now and I'm going to school for five weeks down at Tyndall AFB in January. I have never hunted south of Kentucky so hunting with gators/snakes will be new to me. I own an 18' jon boat and 40hp Yami outboard but I'm not sure I want to trailer it for 40hrs round trip. I have mallard, wood duck, GWT, gadwall, widgeon, pintail and Canada decoys. Also have a layout blind and field geese as well. Which of these things should I bring to maximize my hunting opportunities in the PC area? Do you guys even field hunt Canada's during the November season or is it mainly water hunting only? Lastly, I'm a little sketched out about hunting an area that I'm not familiar with alone. It would be nice to find a guy or group to hunt with on Saturday and Sundays and maybe even some weekday afternoon hunts here and there for the first few weeks of duck season. If I can find someone with room on their boat than I could leave my rig at home. Feel free to blindfold me if you don't want me to know where your spots are:) If worse comes to worse and I have to lug it down there I'd be looking for someone to roll with me that knows the water/area. I should be there a few weeks before opening day so that would include a few scouting trips etc. I figured I'd try this before I take out a personals ad in the local paper. How's this sound:)

"32 yo responsible male duck hunter desperately seeking non sky buster for NSA hunting during early season. Size does not matter, but having a bigger boat is a plus. Must be willing to practice safe shooting, enjoy long walks to the blind and sunrises filled with feathers and gunpowder."

Please dear god don't make me have to post this ad!!!!

Leave the Canada's in Jersey. Won't need em down here. Probably should leave the layout blind too. Lot of guys in the PC area that will chime in. I'm sure a lot are at the bases over there too. Good luck!

That's what I figured. Threw me off when I saw you guys had a pretty long Canada season. Thanks for the advice.

Ya it seems rather pointless to have a goose season in FL since all the birds here are resident park play things. I would have still liked to shoot one here, but more than likely it would be in someones back yard in a ritzy neighborhood or in the WalMart parking lot. Both places will get you hit with a felony. Im attempting to get my hands on a Peacock thats been spotted down the street. No mercy on them bastards!

What kinda layout blind you have? Just curious because I'm about to buy one
I have this one http://www.wingsupply.com/blinds-camo-m ... one-blind/

I needed one built for giants because I'm 6' 6" 250lbs. I was able to get it at cabelas for 139.99 on sale last year I believe. If your normal size their are a lot more on the market. My hunting buddy has one of the Northern Flight series from cabelas. It's pretty nice too. This is what mine looked like grassed in last year.

Ha, yeah that's the point. Can you believe that after grassing them in that good we still had a few birds flare. Must have been my fat head peeking out the top.
