Hey i'm going to be a freshman at Georgia Southern this Fall and was wondering if there were any places to duck hunt anywhere around or anyone needing a hunting buddy. I think i remember hearing that the Savannah River is probabely the best and closest bet but hey..maybe someone knows something i dont..thanks.

Sinclair is a long drive as well. I was in school there for a while and we would go to the coast and hunt the WMA Islands. I have also heard that there are some good swamps on the savannah river never hunted them. And I would think with a little scouting you could find some salt marshes that hold a few birds.

Well I dont know much up around Statesboro. You may wanna see if anyone is hunting down near Pembroke. If Fort Stewart isnt to much of a drive you can get your permit and hunt the swamps along the base. But I would suggest the coastal areas myself. Even the teal were out further along the coast last year. Anyways good luck!!

I've been at southern for a year now, and its real tough to find a place to hunt.. unless you know some people with with land down there you are about SOL.. we've tried running down to the coast to catch some divers, but that didnt turn out to be a real spectacular hunt either.. your best bet is watching the creeks around there.. theres usually a woody or two that will fly through in the early mornings and late evenings...

i know my brother in law did quite a bit of hunting on the ogecchee river not 100% if it was legal but might give you a place to research and see what is and isnt legal on the river. anouther place not far from you and with the rain we have gotten it should be pretty good and right on the savannah river is tuckahoe WMA maybe 45mins at the most from statesboro.
