Any birds?

Well went out this morning. Yet another sunny, bluebird, and COLD morning. All my local ponds and lakes are freezing. First spot I tried was froze 1/2 solid. Went to another and was able to break a path to another hunting spot. Only saw 7 buffies and the were feeding in the only open spot in the lake but they wouldn't have anything to do with the decoys. The last few time I've been out there have been very few birds working. Has anyone else been seeing any birds in decent numbers. I'm wondering with the funny weather we've had is messing with the migration. I sure hope someone else has been having better luck!

It's a duck desert out there right now. The birds we are seeing are stale and have probably been around a while. They are very decoy, call and mojo shy. I'm still waiting for those dumb ducks to get here. It's bad to go out and see nothing for an hour after legal for except a pair of mergs 200 yards out. Neoprene days started today for me and that always sucks! The Michelin man at play!!

It is very slooooow. like Seaducktor said, for the most part, the birds are stale. I certainly do not believe that we had a big push of migrants go by already, haven't seen or heard of that.
We need the weather up in Canada to get real nasty, that will chase the birds off, and bring them down. If it's a mild winter up there, you won't see very much down here, maybe some pockets of birds here & there, but that would be it.

Ducks have been slow in my neck of the woods this week. A few weeks ago we were easily killing two man limits daily. There's still ducks around but they're definitely a little stale. The cold weather is also making them move later in the morning. This morning was very cold and the birds started flying around 8. Thank got for ring bases!!! We saw a couple fresh flocks of mallards this morning and put a few on the ground. Had one hen mallard walking around the deeks at 10'! Geese have been thick since last week. Some flocks were moving out this morning and the ones that are around are pretty jumpy. The full moon seems to do weird things to them!! As is typical I'm sure the north zone will close up here and then the big push of mallards will hit!
