Been hunting Mckee Beshers for the last few weekends with very little action. I hunted Friday morning on a partially frozen fresh water marsh in Carroll County and limited out on ducks by 7:45 AM (they were landing in the decoys while I was retrieving the downed birds).

By the way, spotted a pintail in the area.

Same area produced 4 Geese at 9:30AM.

I will let you know how we do Saturday morning.

Well beside being very cold, and having to break 1" ice, for over 100 yards to get to the non-frozen part of the marsh, I introduced a new hunter to the world of waterfowl.

We placed 12 floating mallard decoy's in the open water of the marsh and 12 full body canada's 50 yards away on the frozen portion of the pond. we pulled the boat on the NW side of the marsh so the wind was at our back (Very Windy). The idea was to get the birds to land in our face.

At 7:15 AM we decoyed 35 geese. Retrieved five.

At 8:00 AM 3 mallards with the wind in thier tail buzzed the decoy's at an un-official speed of 95 MPH. No shots fired.

At 8:30 AM while calling at a flock of 50 geese, 4 hooded merganzers decoyed, I asked my newbie hunter why he did not mention that these birds flew right into the decoy's, Mike; stated that he did not know they were ducks. He thought mallards were the only ducks on the planet, HUH!
Needless to say I let Mike fire on the merganzers and we retrieved 2.

At 8:45 AM called on a solo goose and brought him in on a pass shot.

Action stopped around 9:30 AM, so we packed up and went home. The new guy is hooked and already planning next Saturdays hunt.

FYI: Bass pro in Arundel Mills Mall has 3.5 MM 600 Gram Boot Neoprene camo chest waders on sale for $89.00 on Thursday there were about 40 boxes there all sizes from 6-13.
