I normally go on a self guided North Dakota hunting trip in October. My buddy who I go with has come down with cancer and will be having surgery in September. We will not be able to go this year. I would like to take me 15 year old son on his first guided hunt. Since he is in football and school, we have to limit it to a weekend. I am looking at this guide service for the opener in August. I would appreciate any reviews on this guide service. Please PM me if you don't want to publicly respond to this thread. Thank you for all your help as I would like to give my son a heck of a hunt.

I would guess that most have had similar happen, but...without a gun to put the bird down? The internet posting was the cardinal sin. As hunters, we often times face scrutiny, so I don't think that we need this type of "anti" ammo out there. We're all entitled to our opinions and that's mine.....mauser

So no one here has ever knocked down a bird that jumped up upon attempting to retrieve it? I know I have in the past failed to bring a gun with me.....

Granted its not something I would put on the internet. :fingerhead:
Yah we all make errors in judgment in the field from time to time but I would never put something like that on Internet. I'm not the quickest guy in the world but unless the bird takes to wind i would have no trouble running one down.

The lack of athleticism is what bothered me the most.

But I keep my burner on me at all times, even when fixing decoys or taking a leak. You never know when you're gonna have to hit the deck away from the blind. Nothing worse than clueless bonkers hovering right overhead and you don't have your gun with you.

This has definitely happened to me before. Only once without a gun, only had to learn that lesson once.
If it was my guiding outfit, I would consider that one an "out take" and keep it in the archives and not on youtube.
I hadn't heard of Maxxed Out Guide Service before this, but I've seen shoddier youtube videos and website before.

JRiegel22, what did you hear on minnesotawaterfowler?

there was that thread about him being a bully. I am not quick to judge, but one that bugs me the most is the guy who thinks he owns the entire state. They had also posted a video where there shooting right over each others head. I am not saying that I have never accidently rang someones ears but I would not put that in a video.

Yah I don't have anything against guides personally but I don't really like the concept of commodofying wildlife so I guess I'm not really a big fan of guiding.

Another thing in regard to the thread from MWF I posted, is that these guys are fighting over one small piece of land in an area that usually have tons of birds in it and and where there is almost nothing but fields. It seems absurd they would end up right on top of each other like that but I guess people do crazy things when money is involved.

My dad and I rented a blind from him last fall. We will never go back. paid out the ass to have the blind all season and it was always taken whenever we showed up. We ended up in a **** hole blind. His dad lives just down the road from him and used to rent blinds im not sure if he does anymore but there would be a place i would go. IMO he is over priced, customer service skills are way lacking and yea just not impressed i know 2 guys that wont ever go back.

I try to stay away from guides period as it is to hit or miss. Gooosebusters is a good one but phil is moving on and selling his guide service. Been with a few others out of state and was not impressed. I would rater to it on my own and not get anything then get stuck with 7 other guys in a field, etc.

Guides are definitely for some and not for others. We work hard to give our clients a great experience every day in the field with us,. People are going to have their opinions and they are entitled to them. Just know that their are two sides to every story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

In regards to the post above, we had two seasonals blinds we rented last year. Was your dad the gentleman from Granite Falls? Our hunters are instructed where to go and to stay in there pits. If someone was in your spot, we would have dealt with it quickly. We didn't get any complaints of this nature last year. We can't help you with a situation if we don't know about it. We may be biased but we feel we have the best customer service in the industry and would be happy to get you and dad taken care if you simply reach out to us. We'd be happy to bring you guys out to a pit on the house if after we talk we feel we owe it to you. Again we can't help you if we don't know.

Here's our phone. Feel free to call or text Graham if you'd like to file a claim - 651-335-0780 - www.MaxxedOutGuides.com

Thanks!
