Hello all. Just moved out here to Las Vegas from Minnesota. I am a very avid hunter/fisherman and just came across this great site with tons of luck. My question for anyone whom can answer is where in the world here in nevada can i go duck and or goose hunting? I would of never thought that here in the dry barren land of sand that there would be my favorite sport. I am willing to travel just about anywhere to go hunting and I am always open to going along with a group of people for a week or weekend of hunting. Though i'd like to keep it in nevada if at all possible(maybe later trying somewhere else once im more established here). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Duck,
I dont know much about NV. ducks but the salton sea in not too far from Los Vegas. Its in calif. so you would need an out of state licence. $$$$
From what I understand its a pretty good duck/goose magnet. I think a boat is needed for some of the better hunting.
Nv. does have some awsome mule deer, lots of lopes, and some pretty good bulls. also lots of chuckers in those high deserts.
Good luck and check back with us when you get her figgerd out.
we like pics

Yeah I know moving from minnesota to out here is quite a change. But I have heard good things about duck hunting out here. I've seen a few people that hunt together here and have good success. When exacatally does duck and gooose open out here? I might not hit it this year but next I am going to for sure hunt. All help is greatly appreciated.

zilla,

screw california, your a Nevadan now and a duckslayer. If you go to CA you'll get attacked by hippies

if the sultan sea were a sea at all everyone and their grandpa from southern california would be there hunting every year.

I can help you somewhat with the vegas area hunting. If you wanna make a trip up north let us know and start planning (your lookin at 6 hrs of desert driving). The northern hunting is definately worth it. I hunted stillwater 5 times last year when I lived in Vegas.

Well like I said I am willing to go just about anywhere in Nevada. And yes I personally dont think I want to travel to CA to hunt ducks when I can do it here in my new home state. Just reading over some of the other posts about hunting here has really got me excited. Back in minnesota I mainly hunted Wood Ducks and canadian geese. Never really got the opportunity to hunt any other species because of my hunting proximity and knowledge of the areas. But I have heard there is a pretty good mixed bag of ducks and even geese here so its very exciting. When does hunting season normally start and end? And is hunting up north in marshes, small lakes, fields, or streams(need to know the camo I'd have to get for the situation being I left basically all my gear back in minnesota thinking there were no ducks here!). Im sure Ill have a few more questions later but for now Ill just leave it there.

Man, I'm thinking you guys aren't gonna let me off easy this year with me moving to So Cal.
I'm still planning to leave most of my stuff in Fernley with the in-laws so I'll have to wait for you guys to give me updates on Stillwater and maybe even Washoe (sage you still out there?).

Its not that we dont like right minded kalifornians its just why put up with it when we have such good hunting right here. where most people are still regular folks willing to give you the shirt off thier back if you need it worse than them.

by the way Zilla check out our hunting at the website photo section. it will give you a nice view of the marshes and ducks we hunt up here in the north state. www.stillwaterduckillz.com

Zilla,

just click on the www. on the posts. Or try this http;//stillwaterduckillaz.com/
baby boomers and computers :help:

www.stillwaterduckillaz.com

there--that should work.

zilla,

max 4 or the new MOSG will work for everywhere in NV. Check out www.NDOW.org for regs, areas, bag limits & species. 2006-07 info should be out sometime this month, but last years will give you a good Idea of NV waterfowl hunting.

Gun Dog,

as long as you come back to NV and buy a State stamp to do some hunting it's all good!
