Greetings fellow Duck Hunters,,

I jusrt started duck hunting a few weeks ago and have had absolutely no frigin success at all. I need some advise from the masters PLEASE...I am going to try my luck one last time tomorrow on BB to conclude the season.. I have 3 different types of calls, a layout blind a dzn mallard and pintail decoys, I set them up in the wind in a J formation and I cant call in anything to land or get near these things. I'll get an ocassional one or 2 fly over my head; of course when im not ready and thats it... I see 6 million F'in ducks out in the middle of the bay but they dont even flinch when I call they just keep flying where ever they are going..... I hear people shooting all over all day so something tells me Im doing something wrong..

Any Suggestions?????

Thanks,,

Joe

im a semi pro guide out there in the BB. These people r tellin u to set up divers and they r prob killing like buffle head and stuff i could kill millions of when u use the mallards go in the back creeks and across the flats there are little ponds u need to get up on them and dont use more decoys up there put out 2 to 6 pinies in a little area and 2 to 10 mallars suggest black ducks. I went out today on area 7b in bb for last day n took out 3 people shot 4 blacks 2 mature hooded merganzers and the other day a guy i know got 4 pinies. Ull see once u hunt on the open water alot with the divers that its soo borning andnot a challange to get friggen buffles and old squas. Ull get the blacks to lock up nice n what ever else is out there shovlers anything good. get a more grunt duck calll u gotta get a deep grunt dono if know how to do that just zap them once or twice quak quak quak not to much if they r coming right at u dont call at all. Now if u setting up divers u need to get out on the farthest point or layout boat but like i said if u arnt killin any broadys or red heads or canvase back stuff thats a challange n nice what real hunting is about. the key for divers dude tell u the truth thats worth setting them up is a broady hunt in a layout boat. let me know we can get together next year ill take u out n show u around to some nice spots but its all about scouting i do that 4 times a week

Well thanks for the tips guys,
I went out yesterday morning, got setup just before sun up, I saw mostly buffheads, and a few puddles and mergs but the big flocks that were on the bay days before were gone. I would definately like to go for a few guided hunts next season to really have some fun.. well at least we have spring turkey to look forward to ..
