Scary stuff man. I will say I like the part about mentally ill being prohibited from buying but its too bad they lump that in to a general bill... Hopefully it isn't just the tip of the iceberg...
1). It mentions only Gun Shows or events where 25 or more guns are displayed.....not the transfer of my Ruger Red Label to Dirt. BTW aint going to happen, he needs the third shot!
2). Mental part is most concerning....I just lost a loved one, had neck surgery and lost my job.....seeking therapy where the Dr potentially labels me as depressed and advises counseling????????? Or I checked myself into rehab for addiction to Twinkies???? Seems too loose!
Final comments.....again we/they the elected officials write these proposals to inflate their public image, with little reference to supporting data. Law abiding citizens will follow the laws....criminals will find a way to purchase/obtain weapons. Again let he data drive our direction .....how many crimes have been committed the last decade in NM with firearms purchased at a gun show? Is that really our problem?..
Yeah KHerbst I could see how 'mental illness' could get blurred into anything as minor as depression which anyone could succumb to... It would have to be specific; ie a schizophrenic (permanent illness) diagnosis would be a good disqualifier etc...
I think Reagan was a great guy and all but his emptying out of all the asylums has really created a huge unseen burden on society, safetywise and financially...
Those are both true points Herbst. I understand that it's talking about gun shows, but once the transfer of non-ffl to non-ffl becomes outlawed at shows, the private transfers are next.
