Hey everyone, just curious... are the Finger Lakes frozen over?

Just trying to figure out how long the snows will stage here in Pa for me to get after them or if they will blow right through to the FL, when that time comes! :hammer:

What kind of snow cover do you guys have up that way?

Thank you,

I'm just on the quebec/ vermont border. 3-4 feet of snow here... lakes here have almost 3 feet of ice. Our snowgoose season opened the other day and we wont be seeing them till April at this rate. I've got reports of a few snows in Lake Ontario, a few in the FL area and a few in Lake Champlain. I figure the geese are sending scouts up to check out the conditions and report back! The early migration is mainly hung up around new jersey up to MA/NH, sticking to the coast on account of the snow... I expect they'll be pushed north somewhat by the next couple waves of birds... but the snow cover here isn't gonna let them leave you guys for a looong time. I think the PA and NY area will hold lots of birds till late April and I'll have to wait until May before I see good numbers, sucks cuz I'm heading out for a scout on the 15th, not sure what I'll be looking for! Unless mother nature changes her ways. One good week of rain and warm temps will scatter them north pretty quick, there will be tons of food for them that stayed buried all winter... even the deer have been having issues diggin' up the fields as that layer of ice from the ice storm in January never melted. It should all make an interesting flight this year. Who knows what they're gonna do?

Let us know what you see, we're all getting excited!

Mugz.

yes, i live right outside of canandaigua. I took a drive today, and the lake is almost completely frozen. Dont think we will see snows here for atleast 2-3 weeks..... they only have seneca and Lake O to roost
the name Kate Roth mean anything to you? She'd be about 40 now.....went to Geneseo....good girl and family

Hey everyone... sorry for the delay. Thank you very much for the replies though. We are just starting to see some snows trickle in. Me and a buddy shot 6 on morning a week ago or so. All adults. There isn't a lot around but a few here and there. It seems to be growing by the day but im scared because we have little to no open water! So idk what the heck that is going to do. Snow cover here is probably still a good 5 inches or so I would say. Ive seen some small groups with Canadas hitting manure fields, that's about it. I think late next week we will have a decent amount of birds on what little open water there is. Other than that I don't really expect a ton to hang around unless we get some water opened up.

Keep in touch with me about numbers in NY please. A

And hey bud where are you headed at in PA to hunt for snows...? By middlecreek? If so I know there is around 5 000 or so over there.

Sincerely,

WWW
