Well the time has come that our season is in the final hours for ducks. I hope every1 makes it cuz unfortunately the ducks have finally showed up go figure the last 6 days of the season  . Better than not making it down here at all during the season. Yesterday we saw over 1000 mallards & pintails working the fields & coming into our pond. We were shootn for green & bull sprig only, as we will b doin again 2day, & ended up with 21 greenheads & 4 hens(kids & wife) for 4 hunters. I sure hope everyone hunting sticks it out because as we all know most people pull up & leave bout 10 ish,Major mistake cause yesterday the birds steadily came into the deks from 10 till the end of shooting time. We didn't fire our first shots till 9:45 yesterday after we pushed the birds off the pond @ sunrise. So to every1 out there hunting today stick it out cuz they will fly & just a tip since its the last day all the ducks we bumped off the pond went to Quail valley & Rileys so u guys that hunt there should have a great final day.sick it out cause we now have to wait almost 9 months to get in the field again unless u travel elsewhere. B safe, shoot straight & may the skies in front of you be filled with whistling wings & feetdown Northern greenheads.

I sure hope you slayed them today, Alex! The fog had been so bad over here on the westside...got into the teal good today, but pretty slow otherwise.

We finished off our season better than most. We ended up putting 3 birds shy of a 4 man limit in the bag both days & I finally got a mautre bull sprig. All in all the last 3 weeks have been better than the last 3 months combined. We put 190 ducks & 43 geese on the since the 1st of the year.now its time to finish out the week shootn blacknecks & see where it leads us. Goodluck to all of u guys in Zone 1 & hope you can have better luck w the fog. I've always done well if huntn where the birds want to b & just feedchuckle suttle quacks drake calls cuz they will hone in on it until I can see somethin to shoot. They can somehow find the exact spot they were yesterday in the fog. GOOD LUCK FELLOW FOWLERS

Great to hear you guys gettin into birds at the last here.
This was my first season after a long break because of health problems, and enjoyed every minute of it.
My first day hunting on Sauvie was in '69------so it's been a while.
One of my favorite hunts of the season was at the west side SI before the birds started showing up & it was SLOW------
I had a single big green head fly over the middle of the lake about 100 yards away heading away from me------------
so with no duck call yet, I thought what do I have to loose, and gave out a the best hen quack I could by mouth,
and he turned on a dime & headed straight for me, flaring 25 yards over me to take a look---------couldn't miss.
That one 3 pound north bird made me feel like the best duck hunter in the world---------I'm sure you guys have been there.
Good luck this last week. kerry
