It is a joke. Rubber head capital of the world. Sky busting is a must if you hunt there. The hunters are inconsiderate. I can't say enough about it.
very true i will say that if you scout alot and hunt the backwaters you can do alright mostly on woodrows.

I would say that pressure had alot to do with the downturn of Santee but much of it has to do with most of the rice plantations closing and big ducks not using the atlantic flyway as much. still plenty of woodrows though which makes for a great day IMO.

The acts of damming the Santee River and construction of the lakes themselves led to the destruction of habitat that drew myriads of ducks into the area. Prior to that, the salt line was much further south down the Santee River, which enabled expansive plantations to grow rice on the delta. The ducks would loaf between the plantations and the river bottoms of santee swamp foraging on acorns and rice.

i got a question. i mostly hunt ponds but i started huntin rivers a little bit and now im thinking about a lake. i grew up going to lake marion all the time for fishing. but i never gave it much thought about duck hunting the other day. any one know anything about Still Creek in lake marion as far as duck hunting goes?

If you hunt around sheldon enough you'll notice that the river is way too crowded..i got a couple good spots but other than that the river is way too crowded. its hard to find any good spots anywhere and people are way too territorial. ACE basin is all we have and its good but youre lucky to find the good spots before someone else. anywhere in mind thats close? it could be in any counties like jasper beaufort hampton or even up near santee. i just said santee because i am familiar with the lakes

I understand the ACE gets good numbers but given the MASSIVE size you should have no issues finding plunty of action down there. I'm not sayinb you wont have to run another 30 min from the landing but it can be worth it. I've also had some good shoots 5 min from the landing since everyone else was overlooking these areas. Santee cooper gets just as much pressure as ACE maybe more. Its all about getting out there and finding the ducks. Now quit internet scouting

come to think of it youre right there are plenty of places. i just need to stop trying to go where the crowd goes. i have two spots where no one goes. im sure if i just ride around and watch the ducks ill find a place. thanks for telling me to stop internet scouting. lol i feel like one of those newbs who have no clue where to start. forgive me please

lol i'm just giving you a hard time man. it is easy to get fustrated with the crowds especially when there isn't a ton of ducks to begin with. I normally hunt the mornings then ride for a few hours just looking for birds in out of the way places. I'll be in charleston the last month of the season. I got a few boats and a dog I hunt the north end of the ACE
as well as some big bays north of there. might be looking for some company a few mornings. just picked up a fastcraft that should do 60+ MPH so it should be pretty easy to get away from the crowd lol

yeah i know what you mean. combahee is crowded and it doesnt seem like there are as many ducks as there was a couple years ago. and alright man if you want some company just let me know. PM me or PM me your number and ill reply with mine so if you wanna hunt you can hit me up.
