Awsome, Glad you guys are having fun, I have been going to NESD every other year for the past 10 years comming from NC. My Dad is from Lake Norden. The duck hunting here is non-comparable to what you guys get. This year I am bringing a friend who has never been out west, it is going to blow his mind. Nothing like a cloud of malards!

Me and a buddy are coming up to the waubay area this weekend. I have never hunted up north but my parents have a camper on the lake and are going to call it home for the weekend. We plan on hunting Saturday and Sunday Morning for ducks and pheasant in the afternoon. I am extending an invitation to anyone in the area that wants to hunt with us or will let us hunt with them. My phone number is 605-695-2788... give me a call or shoot me an email nicahmann@hotmail.com...

P.S. we got about 2-3 dozen decoys, and a couple goose floaters. We want to stay light and mobile because we do not know the area that well... looking forward to hearing from somebody

Hunted last friday thru sunday with our hunting group of 10 guys.
Split into 2 groups of 5.
Friday - hunted water in the wind -16 ducks, 1 goose for 10 guys.
(Made duck cabob's, with the ducks & goose for fridays meal. Plus a little patte' for crackers.)
Went scouting for a quite a few hours, and hundreds of miles and asked many farmers for permission.
Sat- Hunted picked corn in the flight path between the roost and the feeding grounds. Limited out out with mostly mallards, a few widgeon and 3 geese.
Sun- Saw a huge amount of new birds come in. Hunted picked corn field's and again almost limited out on mallards, 4 widgon and 5 gadwalls. (a couple short)

10 guys, Only 5 hens shot for the entire group in 3 days. 113 birds.
We will all be back out this weds - sunday this coming week.

Hunted near De Smet.

arrowhead park, by brandon. ha ha. ill give you a hint-go where no one else goes, where only a small puddle is off of the big lakes. watch the crowds of duck hunters, then do what they arent doing. use the pressure from the masses of duck hunters competeing for the hot spots on the big lakes to push ducks to you. stick to the small potholes nearby, and sit late. the ducks will come.

as far as the recipe goes, my wife makes it, but it is just the bag of premade wild rice soup, with the duck added only after being seared in a separate pan and seasoned with phil robertsons seasoning. one inch cubes, still a little pink in the middle. it is too easy to overcook duck. soak the duck in some cheap red wine overnite. works awesome.
