This will be my first year with access to a duck boat. I am looking for places between the wind river and no further north than Longview. I realize that most people try and keep their best area's a secret but I am just looking for ideas in places to scout. You don't need to give me your GPS coordinates just general areas of where you can still hunt. Keep in mind my boat is a 15 foot shallow draft duck boat so I won't be looking to hit the big water of the Columbia. Thanks for the help! :help:

I would start looking at about Caterpillar Island down river. I don't think their is any spots you can hunt on the river above that until you get to the Whitcomb Unit. Unless on the Oregon side. Their is an area near Camas / Washougal, but most is posted and the birds will fly right over your head to the refuge area. Shillipoo and Vancouver Lake with the crowd and learn the area around their.

Google Earth is your friend. You are limiting yourself by knocking the Columbia out. Watch the weather and the tides charts closely. There are a lot of days where the Columbia is like a pond. Just remember to slow down for the big boat and barge wakes and those days can provide good hunting.

Vancouver Lake is popular for small boaters. Lots of competition and some decent days of shooting.
