Check out northern wesstern Alberta in the P. R. district as it intersects numerous flyways and has a huge concentration of wildfowl that feed in the fields and have successful guides for September hunts these birds have never seen a hunter yet.
REM1100 Do you have any guides you would recommend? I don't want to break the bank, but definitely want to make some memories.
I hear from some guys that use to go up to Alberta that they would find the fields the birds were using and start knocking on doors. They said most of the farmers let em on. Now this was 10 plus years ago, so like anything it changes and money usually does that. Are there trespass fees that farmers would agree upon or have guides taken that role?
Knocking on doors 10 years ago is not the same now as people treasure their land like gold and make small little communities called acreages with their own municipal non hunting areas and it is illegal to take fees for access to their lands and some farmers lease out federal land and post it which is a grey area....unless you drive up in a white caddy with a white hat and represent some oil
company..good luck..That is the main reason I travel to Saskatchewan 650 miles one way each year where i know that I am welcome
as there is a different warmness in communities.
As I have said go to the northwest tip of the province where the migratory paths of two flights paths cross and the birds are
already staged there and is most strictly guide country along with black flies and mosquitoes or choose Saskatchewan where the guides are more realistic as they grew up there and also own some prime shooting land and have better access..many people freelance in Saskatchewan and return many times besides my Sask licence allows me to hunt more than a week whereas in Alberta the license is only good for that one designated week..also do the math Alberta has a population of 3 million versus Sask only has one million and it is mostly agriculture versus urban sprawl.
Check out the guide prices there and the distance drive from major airports and high motel prices will make you think again
