Hello All,
I am looking for advice from the great Goose Hunting Minds on this site. So here goes, If you were going to purchase 1 brand of decoys to build your spread, what would that decoy be. Please explain why, if it is price to value, realism at a reasonable price , if you have had good experience with the type of decoy. I'm starting to accumulate my goose decoys and If I can go with one dependable manufacturer and purchase decoys in different positions, I am thinking that is the way I want to go. Thanks for the help should you decide to answer this post.
Happy Shooting,

Hello Black Smoke,
Thanks for the reply, I'm looking for Field Decoys, and I would bag them, I have a UTV that would help me carry them to the hunting spots but I also use a a cart where access of the UTV is not allowed. I hunt geese over a field sometimes in pits , and sometimes in a blind, I also hunt ducks over water using floaters and sometimes we get geese coming in but not that often. I hunt with a buddy who usually puts out 7 to 8 doz decoys and he too has a cart. I am looking for full bodies but I'm open to integrating shell decoys and large ones for visiblilty. I just don't want to waste my money on decoys I don't like and have to deal with shipping them back and the hassle. I just got in a doz. of Tim Newbolds Lessers fully flocked and they are OK and will work, they have some defects to them and for the price they should have come in perfect. That is why I posted to save me some time with other opinions from people who have the decoys and like them. Also what the sporting goods stores in my neck of the woods offer, there isn't a big selection to choose from. Thanks

Hi Tealer,
Thanks for responding but after going to their website, they are too expensive for my blood. They look like nice decoys and I dont doubt the quality, but pricey.

Check out Tanglefree fully flocked lessers or if you want to spend the extra money go with the greaters but me myself have all of the new fully flocked lesser Tanglefrees and I'm sure are bigger than those new Averys you got. I get all lessers for price reasons and back packing them out. They are all double bagged and you can get the bags from Tanglefree as well as the decoys direct but you may be able to find them cheaper somewhere else. I've used these decoys all September and love them! Just an option for you to look at.

If your going with fullbodies, it's hard to beat dakota lessers. Right size, durable, base stays attached. Those or big foots will give you the best durability for reasonable price. DOA if you want to spend some more money...
Don't be afraid to add some silhouettes to the mix as well. Real geese pro series 1's or 2's are great when you have to hike in.

Whichever brand you choose Id stick with it. Setting spreads of mixed brands gets annoying cuz you have to bag these this way put those ones over there etc. I like GHG FFD's. They finish geese and thats my favorite part of field hunting. Getting geese to all but land in the spread is one of the things that I love about waterfowling. Its all about what you like and everybody is a little bit different

If I ever go back to all Full bodies, which is highly unlikely, I'd going with Dakota Lessers. Awesome decoys. For silos I love my Bigt Al's Lessers and greaters. They straight up finish birds.

Bigfoots. I have a similar story. Threw her back in the truck and everything good to go. Why Bigfoots? Powerful, durable and cost effective. My original dozen are going into their 13th season. I don't bag. Waste of time and money. There's a reason competitors change decoy models yearly. Cost. Look hard enough and you can get a dozen new shipped for $330ish.
