Well dove is done, but we have an early coastal quail season that opened this past week-end. Was not able to make the opening day but went out the next day and shot a couple. My dad got 2, I got 1 and we each lost 1. dang birds find out it's hunting season fast. they were using their trickery to evade us yesterday and boy can they hold tight. Anyone else gettin after any upland birds before the waterfowl season starts??
nice looking birds! New Mexico statewide quail season almost always runs Nov 15 - Feb 15. saw a few scaled quail while out dove hunting a couple weeks ago.
General quail opener on the 17th. I scouted last weekend and found four separate coveys, but am unsure whether I'll chase them or go after chukar that first weekend. Probably will end up going after the quail; my eight-year old will be with me, and it's probably not a good idea for his first taste of upland hunting to be slaving up the mountains after chukar.
Yep, went last weekend. 3 for me and 3 for hubby. They seem fatter this year and there are a good number of them. Always some good exercise chasing them up and down mountains.
