Just wondering if anyone had any turkey hunting tips. We are getting turkeys from Ontario in January and releasing them here on PEI. Of course we cant hunt them right away but Id like to get started on learning there behaviors. Any help is good.
I have gotten all of mine before 7 a.m. ; however, my dad shot his biggest 10 minutes before closing so i guess i at depends on weather and where other hen are leading the gobblers
Morning is my favorite but if you scout them but being sneaky about it so you dont spook them, and find there roost evening works too.Turkeys are creatures of habit once there in a routine they stick with it until it gets broken up by,well you shooting one perhaps. In the spring I can get 2 and a bonus tag,in the fall I can get one,, and I have filled Alot of tags in the past few years.I go out 2 weeks or so before season and watch them,, say there in a clearing around 7:00 am ,well then you know where to set up because my experience they'll be there the next morning. If you need any more help let me know Im not a pro but I do have a few under my belt also taken a few folks out to help them get yours. Sometimes things do not go as planned but cause I've been skunked a couple of times as well..GOOD LUCK and have fun
