are finally here! Lot of good teams in there that are for the most part, pretty evenly matched. I dont think anyone is going to have an easy series with the exception of maybe Boston. But, the old time rivalry between them and the Habs could make for some awesome play. Should be interesting to see how it all pans out. I gotta feeling theres gonna be several long series this year.

Lets go RED WINGS!!! Bring it back to Hockeytown!

I can tell you guys aren't from Boston, its awesome living here. The talking heads are all talking about how tough this is going to be against the Habs. Just bracing themselves for another upset at that hands of those friggen Habs. I just hope it goes better than the game last week.

Solid performance tonight by the Wings. Osgood looked like the goalie he was in last years playoffs. 4-1 Victory and a 1-0 lead on Colombus to start the playoffs.

That was a hell of a brawl at the end of the Habs/Bruins game. Just clicked on CBC to see the tail end of it. One of the B's guys looked to have got popped pretty good in the eye...I suspect its gonna be a tough hard fought series...Lotta history there.

Calgary and Chicago got a barn burner going on too!

Love the playoffs...The intensity is awesome!

The Sharks played the first 5 periods of those 2 games like they just figured they were entitled to win. The Ducks came to play. I couldn't believe how lazy the sharks were with the puck. just coasting around...laaaa-deeee-daaaaa.

finally in the 3rd period of game 2 when they went down by 2 goals the light went on...oh crap! they started skating hard then. of course, by then it was too late.

coming back from being down 0-2 isn't unheard of, but i don't know if they can pull it off against a Ducks team that is playing really good hockey right now.

In the Cup finals or the Eastern Conference Finals? Id say theyre going to have their hands full with Carolina after an emotional finish to their series and if they get through them, i think their next opponent will be the Penguins. IMO, i think thats where the road ends for the Bruins. Pittsburgh is becoming a seasoned playoff team that knows how to win. I think itll be a good series, but last years playoff excperience will prevail for the Pens. And if things go as i hope in the West, there'll be a rematch to last years Cup Finals.

After last nights action the West is set. Ducks knocked off the Sharks 4-1 and the Hawks beat out the Flames 4-1 to clinch their series in 6 games.

WEST
(8)Anaheim at (2)Detroit-Detroit in 6
(4)Chicago at (3)Vancouver-Hawks in 7

Looks like a couple big game 7's tonight. I think the Caps will beat the Rangers and I think the Devils will down the Canes tonight.

EDIT
Well, the Caps lived up to the hype and knocked off the Rangers 2-1.

In the other series Broduer let in a couple weak ones and lost 4-3 to Carolina in the last 1:26 of the game after having a 3-2 lead! So, now the East is set.

EAST
(6)Carolina at (1)Boston-6 or 7 games and its a toss up for me. Carolina will be tough.
(4)Pitsburgh at (2)Washington-Pittsburgh in 6

I sure hope you're wrong. I followed the Bruins my whole life and I've yet to see them do really well.

I just think that this Pittsburgh team is allot more playoff tough(experienced) than the Bruins. After a deep run for the Pens last year i think theyll be hungry to get back to where they were. The Bruins had a great regular season, but that doesnt mean much come playoff time. Pens were at the bottom of the barrel most of the season and have surged significantly in the second half and have improved their game a bunch over that time. Theyre just playing really good hockey right now IMO. But, you never know, thats what makes the playoffs so great...anything can happen.

Believe me your team can do it even when everyone else says they cant. My Detroit Red Wings are a case in point. They always say theyre not physical enough or have good enough goal tending, but theyve gotten it done plenty of times. I hope they can do it again this year. I never count our guys out...So, have faith brother.

That said...GO WINGS!!!

I hear that brother! ...Very convincing game one victory by the Bruins by the way. I watched the Wings/Ducks at turkey camp and we lost 4-3 in triple OT. ....I just clicked on NHL Network and i see that Carolina shut out Boston...Damn!...Looks like both our teams are in for a tough go of it in the second round. I would love to see the Bruins and Wings in the finals, would be a great original six matchup, something thats been missing for allot of years. I thought this years winter classic was awesome between the Wings and Hawks....What a game!...Seems like teams really get up for those old rivalries.

Oh yeah, go wings! :lol3:

Well, its shaping up to be a great second round. Every series is tight. After the 3 OT loss to the ducks and a controverisal call on a tying goal at the end of game three the Wings found themselves down 2-1 going into game four. After a solid performance all around and FINALLY some scoring from a top forward other than Franzen, the Wings put up a 6-3 victory and have tied the series at 2-2. Lets go home now and get the lead boys.

West
Anaheim vs Detroit-Tied 2-2
Chicago vs Vancouver-Tied 2-2

East
Carolina vs Boston-Car. 2-1
Pittsburgh vs Washington-Was 2-1

What a second round it has turned out to be. 4 series and only one is finalized.

Congratulation to the Black Hawks for advancing to the Western Conference finals. Great to see them back in the thick of things after a fall from grace since the 94 season.

What a game last night in Pittsburgh. Even if your not a hockey fan you would have enjoyed that game. Tons of scoring and lots of emotion....Game 7 tomorrow in Washington...Should be a dandy....I think Varlamov will lead the Caps to victory...Teams are pretty evenly matched, so you gotta look to the goaltending...and Varlamov has been better than Fluery period.

Carolina looks to knock out the top remaining seed in the playoffs tonight on their home ice. Should be another great game, ecspecially after the Ward/Young incident in game 5. Two great goaltenders and two gritty teams. It dont get any better than that.

And finally, the mosst important game to me. The Wings vs Ducks in game 6. The Wings are looking to close out Anaheim at the Honda Center. Should be a heck of a game with the Ducks backs against the wall. Lets hope the Wings can continue where they left off the last two games. Would love to see em close em out tonight....Puck drops at 10 pm...GO WINGS!!!

Red Wings WIN!!!...That was a hell of a game tonight. Both teams left it all out on the ice and the Wings prevailed. Looking forward to the Hawks vs. Wing match up...Two original six teams, should be some great hockey between two skilled teams.

Bostons in OT with Carolina...Its a one shot game, should be exciting!

Regaurdless, i cant wait for the next round to see what your hawks are made of. I say they dont stand a chance against the Ducks or the Wings.
The Young Hawks have already played past anyone's expectations. No matter what happens in the Conference Finals, this season has been a successful one.

The one bright spot to playing the Wings instead of the Ducks, No 9:30Pm Games :lol3:
