what kind of decoys should i bring?

Whatever ya got. Also, match the birds you're seeing if ya can. If you're seeing big rafts of divers then match it. If you're seeing small groups of mallards then match it. And so on. Thats if you can. If you don't happen to have the same species of decoy then use what ya got. Most species will respond to mallards. If there are divers in there paint up some jugs flat black.

Most of the time (because I won't say always) big water means you can get away with bigger decoy spreads. I hunt a bay off the Arkansas River that is a little over a mile across and a mile and a half long. This Saturday we'll be setting out 16 doz. magnums and supermagnums. Other days late in the season I may put out 3 or 4. It's all about what you see the ducks doing and visibility.

big wtaer usually = big spreads and big decoys and decoys that will ride rough water, leave those plastics at home :laughing:
