what to plant for duck

Postby marshwhacker » Sat Feb 18, 2006 6:43 pm

i have a lease that is pretty big, and there is one big flat on it, well there was a bunch of ducks on it till we hunted it once well now they want to land out in the middle of this big flat, so i want to plant something around my blind that is legal and grow in about 6 inches to a foot of water and grow all season. can anyone tell me what might work.

I'd contact your game and fish cus i don't know your regs on plantin but a millet might work for you, Jap millet grows to about a foot high or you could plant a dove proso millet right around your blind for cover cus it can grow to six feet high. But check with G&F.

Millet was my firts thought as well. Does this spot have water year round.
You might opt for rice if that is the case.
Jap millet is great and will come back on it's own, but it's not a very hardy cover for hiding.

i don't need it for cover and it does hold water all year round but its tidal so sometimes it might night have water for a couple of hours or maybe a day or more
