First Green Head - need mount ideas

Postby agengo02 » Tue Jan 03, 2012 1:36 pm

Well I finally shot my first green head which is pretty rare for my area. Now I need to figure out how I want him mounted. I always thought I would want a banking angle, but I really like the look of jumping off the water. Here he is and post up pics of yalls green head mounts:

X2 i prefer mounting birds like that. i got a pair canvasbacks i'm getting done and my buddy is getting his swan done the way we jumped it. if not, i'd go to birdmanstudios.com and look at his mounts. he's got a ton in his gallery.

Yeah I need to find a picture to bring to the taxi this week. I think it'll be like yall said and get him how he was coming in. Banking in looking into the decoys. He'll make a fine addition to my living room!

My fiance was a little miffed when I brought him home though. Her words: "You mean you have to spend a couple hundred bucks to get him mounted and we STILL don't get the meat?!?" (She had just had her first duck gumbo and got hooked on the taste of the meat!)

Nice looking bird. Here is one I took last year and just got back from the taxidermist.

I always think that a standing duck with a wing stretching is a cool pose.

I love birds with cupped wings coming on in. But you have to do what you will remember. Make sure you get it checked out first. Often times early season birds have a lot of pin feathers that make them tough to mount well.
