Arkansas, Washington, Oregon, North Dakota, Oklahoma.

Order may vary, but it shouldn't be hard to find and kill mallards in any of those states.

Alberta, Saskatchewan , Manitoba and then something south of the 51rst on the last two. Everyone allways calls us the USA's little brother so i figure they must be included.

Just about anyone can shoot Mallards up in Sask ,Alberta or North of the border when the birds are young and haven't been
shot at ,and the older ones that rertuned to nest start coming down because of the weather and food availability .The challenge
for me is ,when they have migrated down and seen just about every decoy spread and been shot at long that long journing
South . The Pacific Flyway is pretty damn good for Mallards .

It varies in Oklahoma....... Unless your right next to Kansas... Last year was a horrible year for mallards...

Hunted the eufaula area once last year and was the only mallards i saw all year. Around my usual hunting grounds (south central) it was a gadwall/scaup fest.

Yeah, I would say that it is definitely under rated.

I love the versatility, hunt flooded timber one day, next in a wide open cornfield, next day be out on the mississippi screaming at those bird
In the o zone layer. all within a 30 minute drive. Gotta love it.
Been seeing some teal buzzing around my farm pond already

They're still stupid for good calling and easy to hit when they get down here to Louisiana. Not that I'm knocking it. Makes me look like I know what I'm doing.

Rick , I'm with you on that . I've hunted in South Ark in the late season when birds were down and My experience was you
better know how to set-up and call .......AND the most important part Shoot Straight . Hunting out in the open is challenging
down there with all the competition but when in the timber and the birds are only giving you that tree-top look , Wow , That's
fun seeing how much bird you can bring down with the least amount of wood .

I don't know what your limit is on Mallards but , We can have 7 in our daily bag with only 2 hens . That should tell you
something about the Pacific Flyways Mallard population . Think about that , 1 less than you can have North of the Border .

The TOP five? According to the USFWS, the top five mallard states for 2011 were:

Arkansas
Missouri
Louisiana
Illinois
Mississippi

...in that order.

Now, there are a dozen other states where mallard hunting can be fantastic when the conditions are right. After all, the mallard is the most numerous duck in the world....and there are millions of them all over this country.

Who honestly finds Mallards to be a trophy? I know they are probably my least favorite duck to shoot.

That's what they want you to believe Mudpack , from what I've heard they don't want you fellas to shoot to many so when
they go North to nest we can have more on the West Coast . We shoot a lot of Mallards here and kind of leave the Spoonie's
and Divers so they can return to go East . Hmm ,they sure are tasty too.
Have a good season ,it's just around the corner . We start up North on Oct 12 th ,how about you ?

Not really. Mallards are the most common duck in the world, and 2nd easiest to kill I would say after Teal. Actually, I'd put them even with teal as far as being easy to kill. I would rather shoot pintails, canvasbacks, scaup, wigeon, GE, gadwall...just about any other duck over a Mallard simply because there are tons of them.

Super models aren't the most common person in the world. Super models don't easily land in my bed. Super models aren't mallards.
