We just got back from looking at a rice field that we will be hunting in this year. The rice has been harvested, but some of the waste grain has started to germinate. That got me wondering if the field will still attract ducks since there is not as much waste grain on the ground. Have any of you had any luck hunting on a field that has rice growing from waste grain? Also, will this pose legal risks, hunting over growing rice?
We also have the option of hunting on a soy bean field. Would that be better?

I hunt in a flooded rice field that doesn't get cut. Ducks don't go crazy over it but they still get in there and the geese love it. As far as legal issues as long as you make your holes prior to the hunting season depending on how many days your state requires you should be good.
