Gesse and Ducks

Postby robert331 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 1:38 pm

I had 75+ Gadwalls and 12 or so GWT on one of my farm pond 4 days ago. Here in the last few days they have slowly but surely bugged out. Now there is not a duck in sight but there are 300+ honkers using it as a roost pond. Pond is about six acres. No change in weather no one jacking with them just up and left. Any ideas?

I used to have the same issue with woodies on a pond I hunted in MS. They would feed in a flock of over 200 birds and eat every last acorn out of the pond and then leave. You had to hope that season came early enough to where you could kill them and get them off the pond or else you would have no food and no ducks on the pond for the rest of the season
