Postby Bufflehead dude » Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:49 am

We're i hunt there are hundreds of woodies and hoodies we try not to shoot them because they are no good to eat but last time I went I killed 2 wood ducks and a hooded merg and didn't shoot my last wood duck because I thought he was one. Any tips on telling them apart in the air.

Woodies heads are always moving. They are always looking around and the head looks as if it is steadily bouncing up and down.

Drake hoodies are almost unmistakeable in flight. At least they re to me. That log bill and white patch on head. Even in flight with their cone mostly closed you can still see the white. And the hens are just the ugliest damn bird that flies.

Hoodies have a noticeable white patch on their wings. Woodies do not.

I agree. However, I've never tried soaking them in milk. I've always used water and salt. Have to try the milk next time. Is it supposed to draw anything out of the milk or just simply add to it?

Hoodies have a very 'pointy' head, and look 'hunch-backed' in flight. Wing beats are faster and shallower than a woody

Gentlemen, as a good friend of mine once said. I would drag my ball sack through ten miles of broke glass just to smell her fart through a water hose. Dibs on the brunette
