Predator stoppers for woodduck houses

Postby Goose Doctors » Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:32 pm

I'm pretty limited on money right now and I wanna put up 6 new wood duck houses. What are cheap things to use for predator control other than expensive sheet metal? I was thinking a 5 gallon bucket upside down with a hole through the middle and attach it to the post. Or zip tying plastic sheeting around it so the coons can't get a grip? Any thoughts?

see if a local vet will donate some dog collars... th big ugly white ones they have to ware after they have stiches. other than that you dont have to use a ring. try some cheep roofing flashing crimped together and naled or bolted to the post. even check some home remodel sights or new construction sights. just some ideas for ya.hope they help.

Go to nearest operating construction site at night and go dumpster diving. They throw away a ton of good wood and other materials.

I just use a round galvanized fence pole to bolt the house too. The coons and other predators don't seem to be able to climb it. Just make sure you put it high enough off the water/land that they can't reach up to the house.
