That's a serious hog for sure! Could it fly? We've got some big ass domestic ducks, but they can't fly........

The only person that shoots mallards that big is Frank Lopez on Long Island. If that bird really weighs almost eight pounds...its not a wild mallard. Big mallards and Blacks weigh ...maybe four pounds. Nice looking bird though, and I have seen some of your other post. Looks like you're having a good year.

i think your scales are off.. that or you are an ogre.. most specks weigh less than 7 pounds and that bird just don't look to be the size of a speck or mid size canada goose. average drake mallard weighs 2.7 pounds.

that said, that thing is a hoss.

Possum that's not me that's my bud that hunts with us he's probably 6'3. According to my fishing scale at home, hanging on a duck strap alone, it weighed 7.98 lbs it registers at 1lb and the duck strap alone didn't register

All mallards have 4 curl feathers. 2 feathers make up 1 curl for a total of 4 feathers.

Arkansas rice-fed mallards are big and fat but that's a huge duck. Must be a farm bird that got loose, found some buddies, and got shot.

That's what I was thinking Betty. It had 4 different curls that's just the big ones. We didn't include the 4 baby's that go with it

I shot one 3 years ago that was like 18 lbs. Not really 18 (maybe 17 Jk) but here's a pic I posted a year or so back.

Not a mallard. That's a Rouen, which typically weigh between 6-8lbs. Cool story tho!
