I'd like to throw in New Era Championship Calls (www.newera.com). I have their Double Bander call and it is a low-mid volume call but it has a lot of rasp so it fits my calling style.

Big Timber Calls. Justin is a stand-up guy and makes each call by hand, no CNC machines. I have a Bocote on my lanyard always, but his African Blackwood and Coco calls are just as gorgeous. If you're looking for the small shops, he is one of the best I've dealt with. He is keeping the tradition alive with his hand-on approach, and a uniquely pleasant ducky sound.

May turn the barrel but that is most definitely a poly. Echo insert.

Rory, there was no need for your comment sir. Several of these call makers have used/are using Echo inserts and you wait until now to call one out?

Ya but there is a huge difference for a lot of call guys. Alot of guys call them barrel stuffers, because while it does take skill to turn a barrel the real skill is making your own insert and making it sound like a duck. Most guy do tune the echo inserts, but I doubt they are taking a file to the tone board. Tuning and modifying are two different things.

I only know of one that one actually takes a file to the toneboard. That doesn't mean there aren't more though...I just don't know :lol3: :lol3:

Want me to go all the way back through the thread and say it to all of them? Guess that'd keep it more fair.

Quick question since we have determined these are poly echo inserts....What would you pay for a call like this? I paid $60 for a Buckeye burl -smoke insert-double reed.

Not bad since it was BB. I would much rather buy a call maker's own insert though.

This is buckeye burl barrel, striped ebony insert, with an elk antler band made by Misfire. This call is super raspy and has excellent range. It would be somewhere around $125 due to the woods and the antler band.
