Postby Gooseboy » Fri Feb 10, 2006 5:42 pm

I was looking at calls and notice there is a material called ABS i notice that it was cheaper than acrylic but more expensive than poly carb and was wondering exzactly what it was. Any help would be appreciated.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene - It's a type of plastic. It is relativly cheap and very easy to machine. It is commonly used for automotive parts, Legos, totes and bins, and machine parts. You've seen it in the hardware store - It's the black plastic pipe. The white is generally PVC (polyvinyl chloride).

AK, that is the best answer I've ever seen. Here's one for you... :salude:

I think it would be stronger and less likely to crack. The real test is how it sounds. I have a Rich N Tone RT2-1 that's new and still in the box, it says it's made out of ABS right on the package and it's at least 20 yrs old so it's nothing new.
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.
