RNT Bois d' Arc/Hedge

Postby ashtoncvsg » Mon Dec 19, 2011 1:33 pm

Hey guys,

Been away from collecting since last season and I decided to pop onto RNT's website to check out the new calls today and noticed that nothing is being offered in Bois d' Arc/Hedge. Just curious what's going on? If they don't use this material anymore what has the secondary market been for call in this material?

Thanks
Mike

They were out for a while and waiting on a shipment of it. But it's been a while back that I heard that. Welcome back!

Hey DC, I figured I'd hear from you on this. Has it affected the secondary market on calls made of this? I may move my NOS to a guy on here and was just curious what they are going for these days on secondary market. Don't want to rip him off and don't want to give it away either. Hope the season has been good to you so far, only about 2 weeks left of it here.

No effect on resale values IMO. Just like DC said, they ran out for a while and had gotten some in but I believe they still may be looking for a large quanity seller of hedge that can handle RNT's volume. I had a hedge Alpha 2, hedge G2 barrel with KP engraving, and a hedge G3 on order in and they took nearly 3 months. Well worth the wait though IMO. Planning on sending in some call parts to have opposites made soon though and most likely will be getting them in hedge. Nice to see you back.

I've seen no affect. Even the old DC's have gone down since you last visited!

When I called the shop a few weeks ago, I was told that they ran through the last shipment with backordered calls. They said that they probably would not offer bois d'arc anymore.

Looks like the value just went up boys.

Getting quality wood is hard for alot of call makers these days. Im sure that for a company as large as RNT it is even worse. If the wood is not dry it will shrink like no ones buisness if turned to soon. Id hate to see them drop Hedge as it is one of my top three woods in looks and sound quality

I was hoping to get a Timber Hawg in hedge. It was disappointing to find out they were dropping it.

When I was down for World's Butch said they would not be stocking Bois anymore and that it was too hard to keep in stock. Luckily, I picked up one of the last 3 Hedge short barrels

You can always send them a piece of hedge for them to turn for you.

Might as well use it, you'll be an old man before it becomes a true collector's item.

I highly doubt RNT would discontinue Bois d' Arc/hedge,that has got to be one of the top selling woods they use in their lineup of calls.

I'd be a little surprised as well. I wonder what percentage of sales that wood calls make up.

You can still send in a piece of wood to RNT and have them turn you a call from it.

I didn't know anything about this situation. However, I called the shop almost two weeks ago and ordered an Old Style in burnt Bois d'Arc. They didn't mention anything about it not being available. I will update if I hear anything else and/or receive it. I did notice that they had not charged my credit card yet, though.
