Can't beat that ol' Red and 1st Gen back to back, lovin it like a fat kid does icecream.

I've seen several of these Reds pop up very recently, wonder how rare they really are ...

I'm not positive on the barrel. The insert is cedar. I'll have to get the pair down to the shop and check one day.

Love those old calls. Agree with Catdiesel that it looks like walnut and cedar. Great find!

Thanks Polsty.

I feel fortunate to have these calls.

In regards to Ol' Red, I feel even more fortunate just to have the opportunity to own such a piece of "duck call history". A lot of people search a lifetime for a call like this. Some find one and some don't. I just count my blessing that Ol' Red landed with someone who appreciates its beauty & rarity. To me it's priceless. I had sweaty palms & my hands were shaking when I opened the box!

If you question how rare it is, I can only give you the story I've been told. You have Butch's number right? I bet he could shed better light on the call than me. If you don't have his number, let me know. I think I have it...but if I don't I can get it from a good buddy of mine...Sugartown.

I do, tell us more about the Red Rich n Tone rareness ... Didn't mean for you to take me wrong bud.

First off, completely agree they're rare and a gem.

In the last month and a half, I've seen more than Brandon's and your call come up for sale .... hence my comment on how rare they really are ... which I can see that being mistaken

I sincerely apologize

Aren't many available thats for sure. With the stick of red acrylic Butch had, there's 10-12 out there. Four of them (maybe 5) are probably never to surface as they would be family heirlooms to the people who the "solid red" acrylic was made for in the first place. Then there's two more of them I know will never be surrendered, sold, etc. So that eliminates 50% or more right there. So there's some out there. Certainly a privaledge to find, and a beauty to look at day to day.

Keep all these fine calls coming fellas. Have a good weekend

I can't compete with all these old Richies  , but I just picked up an odd call...a born on with a OSDC bore on it. The guy had it done while he was at the shop in 2004 and they called it the Timbre Cutter.
