Black ash is a good choice. That was my first one I bought. You'll soon find that you are always wanting another one (or three)

Its starting to become an addiction, Aaron makes a great whistle and don't hesitate to give him a call, great guy to talk to. Just added the orange one I picked up from ebay. Got a few blanks of Chittum and Yellow Cedar Burl for him as soon as my number comes up. These whistles are killer on pintails, must have call for my lanyard.
