Im getting ready to order a new Iverson call from Mr. Emery Mitchell. He sent me a product list that shows what woods he makes calls from. There is a huuuge price difference between the woods.
Rosewood with Brass Band$165.00
African Blackwood with Rosewood barrel$155.00
African Blackwood/Rosewood barrel with Brass Band $190.00
I know he's getting ready to retire soon so I wanted to get another call before he does. My question is...will the different woods make a real difference in the sound or is it more for cosmetics since its a rarer wood? And is the brass band really important? I was told its there just to keep the wood from expanding. The call will not be used in the field, just a shelf queen and family heirloom.

im not 100% but im pretty sure the brass band is to prevent the wood from expanding. as far as the woods go they are different in how dense they are. i would say the blackwood is the hardest and is more close to acrylic than the others. might also notice it being a bit crisper due to this. im sure none of them is a bad choice but ill throw my vote for going all out if you want to pass it down. maybe even get him to engrave his signature or sign it. good luck and get us a pic when you get it

Could you please share the contact info for Iverson calls. I would love to get a new call and replacement reeds for my old call. I have been looking for several years now with no luck. I would love to have a functioning Iverson again.
