Daisy Cutter "BLACKOUT"

Postby gr8white » Sat Jul 06, 2013 11:27 am

Looks interesting. Wish it had more of the classic engraving vs. the sperm, but oh well. Ill probably pick one up anyway.

No fooling. That engraving runs counter to what I'd want in a "blackout" motif, but they may know a lot more about what sells than I...

Yeah..I think I get who they're after with this call. My guess would be the younger, flat brimmed hat crowd.

Just came out according to cabelas. I too wish they would have done something different with the engraving. I ordered one anyway to put in the collection. I should have it in the next week and will let you know how it runs.

It would have been perfect with just the duck skull, or no skull at all like Rick said.

Is it a limited run? What's the story behind it?

It doesn't say on the cabelas site weather or not it's a limited run. It just says cabelas exclusive

Just talked to Cabela's customer service and they said that it was not a limited edition, but only a custom call made by RNT to be sold exclusively at Cabela's. Couldn't tell me for certain if it would be pulled after a certain amount of time but said that if it turned into a good seller, which it more than likely will, they would be keeping it on the shelves for awhile.

Like the dull look, but that particular duck skull just doesnt do it for me. Should have put the older duck skull n cross bones. Thatd be a seller. Also you think its that poured acrylic everyones using these days? Just looks "cheap" to me.
No contest ring. No gimmicks. No compromising. It’s just pure, raw, balls-to-the-wall, don’t tell your mother, most powerful, non-nuclear duck calling machine on the planet. This call may not be for everyone. But if you can drive it, Game over......

I'm telling you...that thing ain't acrylic. Look at the insert and you will see small lines that looks like they come from a mold. It is probably some poured acrylic but if I was a betting man, I would say it is Delrin...a molded Delrin

I can't stand all the flames and crap everyone put on calls these days. One thing I liked about RNT was their history and classic looking calls and it seems like they are getting further from that every year. Wish they would find more limited edition things to do with their classic calls instead of all this new stuff. I know they have their business reasons for it but I really prefer the older stuff. That said, I am sure it will sound great and probably be a big seller.

It isn't flame polished so it doesn't have the smooth look to it. I am willing to bet that the lines you see are the lines from the tools when it was turned. Look at Trick's Mondo or Byer's DC, the finishes look similar.
