Worlds best teal call found in my predator gear bag

Postby Normmcclean » Wed Jul 10, 2013 9:05 pm

So I have been racking my brain about getting a dedicated teal call for the upcoming season. Considered factory calls or adapting a mallard call. Then I was packing up my hunting gear and sorting gear to make room for the new nursery. I was going through my coyote hunting pack and pulled my lanyard calls out and decided to try and see if I could get a teal cadence out of my metal reed cottontail squeal call. 5 seconds into running the call I was amazed at the quality and of course the volume I got out of my call. I have a crack calls olive wood rabbit call its the most amazing teal call I have heard. Its going to take a little time to get the air presentation right so I can get low end out of it for closer calling cause its a real screamer. The crack calls are my favorite coyote call but I'm guessing you might get a quality teal call out of any rabbit coyote call might be worth a try for you guys that hunt yotes and teal.

I found the same thing. Had an old Circe adjustable rabbit sqealer and found that the medium volume steel reed insert sounded exactly like a hen teal. Ripped the call apart and had a call maker turn a wood barrel for it. Sounds great but any real moisture and it locks up.

Man you have really put some thought into this. I hunt both, but I'll be sticking to my normal calls. They rarely let me down.

awesome spread of tealies you got there. I think calling is probably the very last factor in teal hunting scouting decoys and set up will get the job done. My teal calling will probably be more for my entertainment than a must have for teal. I need to just get out and shoot something. My senflowers lok great this year so just need weather to play ball and I will have a nice dove shoot to hone my skills for teal. I'm tired of fishing bring on the ducks

He may not have the luxury of managing the family rice farm to hold them by the thousands.

Perhaps, but even then I don't think a predator call would improve anything.

Yeah I am hunting solo on the missouri river so a lot of the flocks I work will be on the opposite bank of the river which is usually 1/2 a mile or so away so call to get them looking in my direction then I let my spinners and modest decoy spread hopefully seal the deal. I wish I had family ground to hunt if anyone out there would like to adopt me I would be game in a second. thanks for the help guys

That second pic situation would have me thinking about how much money I would be willing to part with, not what any call I had sounded like.

You still need to put some sort of backing behind that sign.
I need about tree fiddy.
