RNT MVP sticking on feed

Postby BonzaiDuck227 » Sat Aug 03, 2013 4:55 pm

Has anyone had issues with tuning an MVP out of the box? Call sounds great on hails, greetings, combacks, and lonesome hen quacks, but when I transition into a feed it'll stick and lock up as I speed it up.

I had the same problem with mine. I cut around a dozen reeds trying to get it to do a feed call and never got it to work out. Finally sent it in to Butch and it runs like a champ.

That's how I got a 13" pecker.

I'm gonna mess around with some reeds later to see if I can get it running good, I almost feel intimidated trying to tune a conpetition call lol

I too have this problem except with an Original.

Do you know what Butch did to fix?

Cut about a half dozen reeds to try and fix the issue with no luck, I'm gonna have to admit defeat and send it on in to Butch. I talked to him today on the phone and he said its most likely an issue with the reeds not bending, but I have them in the right way. Hoping he can get it running good for me.

More like one swipe on the sanding board.

Got it back from butch, he tuned it up with me on the phone, said he had to work on the tone board a bit too. Still sticking a bit on the feed yet he had it doing one good over the phone. Am I putting too much air into the call? Never had an issue like this running a call before. Also seems I can get just as loud on my DC as I can on the MVP. I don't wanna give up on it yet but I'm starting to have second guesses about this MVP. I've run other Main Street calls with no issues I'm stumped here.

1. Video yourself running the call from the front and from each side.
2. Call Butch and ask if you can send him the videos by email.
3. Listen to what he tells you.

Good luck!

what kind of Feeder call you trying to get out of it.
not much of a Bouncing/squealing call with my experience.
Pick/peck and roll.

Refuge feed. I don't seem to have a problem making this call squeal and whine

Got it running great, trimmed a new reed a hair shorter, put tinier dog ears on it, and an extra tall cork.

I only run mine with the tone board facing down. Cuts back on any sticking due to spit build up. This is just for contests, I dont hunt that call.

Picked up another new MVP today had the same issue, got it running better but there's a high spot on the tone board. Is RNT starting to slack in quality control?
