DVDs for learning to work birds

Postby Jesse Jaymes » Sun Sep 08, 2013 3:48 pm

I recall reading of 2-3 DVDs that were highly recommended for newbs to begin with as far as not only how to call, but when to call and how to work birds.

Can anyone chime in?

These were two guys I've never heard of(which may not mean much, but it wasn't Zink, or Rohnquist, etc).

One guy was a Keller or Kellham or Callum maybe?

Regardless, I am looking for suggestions of how to work birds and how to call.

At the end of Barnie Calef's DVD, Calling Ducks My Way, there's footage of him calling and working ducks.

"The Art of Commanding Ducks" by Phil Robertson. It shows you when and how to use certain calls. Unfortunately, no situation is the same for working birds. A lot of variables goes into it.

-Wind direction
-Concealment
-Hunting pressure
-Landing zones in decoys
-Do the ducks want to be there
-Etc.

Best you can do is be where the birds want to be and not have to call much. The more you have to call, the less likely you are to have them commit.
