Been thinking about getting a lares T-1, what's everyone's opinions on them before I spend the $140. Don't want to get it not like it then just put it up for trade

T-1 is a good call, but you should take a real hard look into the Hybrid.
Hybrid is awesome all around call, soft to loud, excellent range.
If your not in a big hurry watch the classifieds and you can pick one up much cheaper than new.

T-1 small bore or regular? Regular bore is just a hybrid insert and sounds the same as a hybrid. Only difference in that would be the Hybrid has a larger barrel.

Small bore vs regular bore. Obviously the small bore is quieter, with the small reed cut the small bore has a little less rattle.

Lares calls are a looser running call with a lot of rattle. I own 4 now and love them cause they suite my style but I have learned they are not for everyone. Some guys like or need a tighter running call.

If you do get one and don't like it you should have no problem getting rid of it.

The hybrid and t-1 have the same insert. The barrel is the only difference. I like the hybrid more, but that's just my preference.

Lares have a different sound and require a different air presentation. They have so much rattle that you don't have to put any voice into them. The design is similar to a LA style call where the toneboard pops out of the insert and the wedge is molded so there is no cork to change. For you, go with the T-1. The short barrel will make it run easier than the Hybrid or A-5. The best advice I can give you...Call Bret or Joe and talk with them. They will answer all of your questions for you.

WARNING: Once you enter Lares Land, you won't go back

Yep Lares are the real deal I tried all of the popular top brands before trying a JJ Lares and they were only 60 miles from my old house and I never tried them! now I'm in Alaska and finally tried the T-1 and holy cow it's the call I Have been looking for, for about 20 years. I ordered the full set of reeds to find the best for me, great folks and the best single reed I have ever picked up.

That's not true at all. The t-1 has the options of a small bore or a regular bore. The regular bore is the same as the hybrid.

You can get a hybrid with a small bore as well. The inserts are the same length and width. The bore is internal design and it can Be used for either call.

They are the same. The barrel is the difference between a t-1 and hybrid.

DKMF, the standard T-1 and Hybrid have the same exact insert, bore, and toneboard. However, you can get both calls in a SB version like tsaylor said

I feel the same about the Lares duck calls as others do about my own favorite RNTs, they're "ok". But I've been wearing out the latest version Lares speck call: not as loud as I'll sometimes want, but sweet running and spot on the birds.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

I have never tried any of their goose calls. So I can only speak for the duck calls.
